
Dr. Theodore R. Hicks is an active composer and arranger and has written music for groups all over the world. Many of his arrangements have been premiered and performed by top choruses and quartets at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s (BHS) International Conventions, and he has also had several arrangements officially published by the BHS in their catalog. His composition of i carry your heart with me won the Best Original Composition at Anderson University’s Concerto/Aria Competition in 2009.
As a member of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) and the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA), Theo is an active choral music educator that has presented classes at the Indiana Music Educator’s Association (IMEA) and Indiana Choral Director’s Association (ICDA) Conferences. He has also served numerous times on the faculty of Harmony University (BHS). He taught in the Indiana Public Schools for over seven years and frequently serves as a guest clinician and conductor for music programs and ensembles throughout the world.
Theo has also been a member of the BHS for over 20 years and remains active in district and international conventions. He sings in the 2015 International Champion Quartet, Instant Classic, and served for 9 years as the Musical and Artistic Director of Circle City Sound, a barbershop chorus located in Indianapolis.
Theo earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Anderson University, his Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Doctor of Arts in Choral Conducting and Voice Performance from Ball State University. He currently serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Anderson University and recently became the Director of Music at North United Methodist Church in downtown Indianapolis.

David Zimmerman is a dedicated piano technician and freelance musician based in Whitestown, Indiana. With a deep passion for music, David has cultivated a rich and varied career that combines his expertise in piano technology with his love for teaching and performing.
David’s work as a piano technician is distinguished by his comprehensive knowledge and dedication to his craft. He is a fully insured technician serving the Indianapolis metropolitan area, with a particular interest in early instruments made before the modern piano. His journey into piano technology began during the pandemic when, with schools closed, he turned his attention to restoring a broken-down harpsichord. This project ignited his passion for the field, leading him to establish his own business. As a one-man operation, David takes immense pride in his tuning and repair work, ensuring that each client is completely satisfied with his services. He emphasizes the importance of regular piano maintenance, particularly in Indiana’s unpredictable climate, recommending tunings every six months to a year.
David’s journey began in Centerville, Indiana, where his early experiences with music shaped his future. He pursued his passion for music education at Ball State University, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Vocal/General Music Education. For twelve years, he taught choir in Indiana public schools, leaving a lasting impact on his students. During this time, David also developed a strong interest in piano technology, a field he would later pursue professionally.
David’s musical talents extend beyond piano technology. He is the former director of the Circle City Sound chorus, an a cappella barbershop group, and a proud member of the Piano Technicians Guild and Barbershop Harmony Society. His musical journey includes singing tenor with the 2015 International Champion Quartet, Instant Classic, a group that has gained significant acclaim. Additionally, he performs with a rock band called The Mortonians, showcasing his versatility as a musician.
